OEM & ODM Lingerie Manufacturer: Your Design or Ours, from 50 pcs

KnitUnderwear is a lingerie factory in Shuyang, making underwear since 2011. We offer both: OEM lingerie, made from your spec, and ODM lingerie, where you select a style from our pattern library and modify it. Most new clients start with ODM to reach market faster, then move to OEM as their own designs mature. MOQ 50 pcs per style on both routes. NDA before any design is shared.

OEM vs ODM: which route is right for you?

The difference comes down to who owns the design. Both routes end at the same quality standard.

OEM: Original Equipment Manufacturing

You own the design

You provide a tech pack, reference sample or detailed spec sheet. We manufacture exactly to that specification. Your pattern is kept on file, locked to your brand, and we do not reproduce it for other clients.

•

Best for brands with existing designs or a designer on staff

•

Full design exclusivity

•

Longer sample lead time (pattern must be built from scratch): 10–14 days

ODM: Original Design Manufacturing

We own the base pattern

You choose from our 200+ existing patterns and specify changes: fabric, colour, strap, trim, label. The base construction is already graded and fitted, we only need to make your modifications before sampling.

•

Best for first-time brands or speed-to-market launches

•

Shorter sample lead time: 7–10 days

•

Lower sampling cost; base pattern already exists

Which route fits your situation

Pick by what you already have in hand.

You have a tech pack or a finished sample

Go OEM. We build the pattern from your spec and lock it to your brand. Sample in 10 to 14 days.

You have a launch date and no patterns

Go ODM. Pick from the 200+ existing patterns, list your changes, and sample in 7 to 10 days.

You have a reference photo only

Send it. We will tell you which of our patterns is closest (ODM) or quote a new pattern from the photo (OEM), so you can compare both.

You are launching a first collection

Start ODM to get to market, then move your best sellers to OEM when you want your own fit and exclusive patterns.

Your Designs Stay Yours

Sending original designs to a factory you have not worked with before is a real risk. Here is exactly how we handle it.

NDA before spec review

We sign a non-disclosure agreement before you share any design files, tech packs or reference samples. Spec review only begins after the NDA is countersigned and returned.

Pattern locked to your brand

OEM patterns are filed under your brand name and flagged as exclusive. We do not share, reference or reproduce them for any other client — including brands in the same product category.

Files returned on request

You can request return or deletion of your tech packs and pattern files at any time. We return all files and confirm deletion in writing within 30 days of the request.

What to send for each route

Both routes begin with the same quote request. Sending these items helps the first sample go in one pass.

For OEM, send

A tech pack, reference sample or detailed spec sheet; the size range with a size chart; fabric and trim references; label and packing details.

For ODM, send

The pattern you want (our style code or a photo of the closest one); your list of changes to fabric, colour, strap, trim or label; the size range; label and packing details.

Product detail and fabric options are on the bra, panty and lace lingerie pages. Sourcing from China has the checks to run before any deposit.

Retail Ready

Custom Packaging from Polybag to Gift Box

Branded polybags, tissue wrap, drawer boxes and master cartons to your spec.

What you can change on an ODM pattern

The base construction is already graded and fitted. You customise everything on top of that.

Fabric and weight: swap to any fabric in our library: stretch lace, power mesh, jersey, modal, woven cotton and more

Colour and print: solid Pantone colour, all-over print, or lace overlay on a plain base

Strap style, width and hardware: thin, wide, convertible, halter or non-adjustable; ring or slider colour

Trim and embellishment: lace band, bow, underwire or wire-free, elastic width and colour

Branding and packaging: your woven label, care label, hang tag and polybag or box

How ODM exclusivity works

The base pattern is in our library and available to any buyer. Your modified version (with your fabric, colour, trim and label choices) is a different product. After your first production run, that modified version is locked to your brand.

●

NDA signed before you share any design detail or spec

●

Your modified pattern is not supplied to other buyers after first production

●

Pattern spec sheet ships with your goods so reorders match exactly

●

Want full exclusivity from day one? Use OEM: your pattern is never in our library

How we keep bulk the same as your sample

Whichever route you take, the usual risk is bulk that drifts from the approved sample. These three steps apply to both.

1

Recovery is tested before we cut

Elastic recovery is wash-tested on the production fabric. The report goes to you before cutting starts. AQL inspection at the end checks visible defects.

2

Elastic from one designated supplier

The spec sheet ships with your goods, so your next reorder can be matched exactly.

3

Same batch as your sample

The elastic in your sample and in your bulk order comes from the same batch and dye lot.

Payment follows inspection: 30% deposit to start production, 70% balance after you approve inspection. How we run QC →

From sample sign-off to delivery: what happens at each step

Once you approve the sample, the process is the same for OEM and ODM. Here is every checkpoint where you have visibility and a decision point.

1

Sample approved. 30% deposit

You confirm the sample in writing and pay the 30% deposit. Production is scheduled and materials are ordered. Your pattern is locked at this point and reserved exclusively for your brand.

2

Pre-production cutting sample + elastic report

A cutting sample is made from the actual production fabric. Elastic recovery is wash-tested and the report is sent to you before any bulk cutting begins. This step catches recovery issues before they affect the run.

3

Bulk production: progress photos on request

Your order has one named contact throughout. Progress photos from the sewing floor are available on request at any stage, sent by email or WhatsApp. Typical bulk run: 30–45 days.

4

Pre-shipment AQL report, 70% balance, dispatch

A full AQL inspection is carried out on the packed goods. The report (measurements, photos, pass/fail summary) is sent to you before we request the balance. Once you approve, we arrange shipment FOB Shanghai/Ningbo or DDP to your door. Tracking details and export documents are sent with the dispatch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between OEM and ODM lingerie?

With OEM you provide the design and we manufacture to your spec, with the pattern locked to your brand. With ODM you choose from our 200+ existing patterns and specify changes to fabric, colour, strap, trim or label.

Which is better for a new brand, OEM or ODM?

Most new brands start with ODM because the base pattern is already graded and fitted, so sampling takes 7 to 10 days instead of 10 to 14. Many move their best sellers to OEM later. New to the process? Read our full guide on how to start a lingerie brand.

Is ODM cheaper than OEM?

At the sampling stage, usually yes, because the base pattern already exists. Bulk unit price depends on fabric, construction and trims, not on the route.

What is your MOQ for OEM and ODM?

50 pieces per style per colour on both routes, with sizes mixed freely.

How long do samples and bulk production take?

ODM samples take 7 to 10 days and OEM samples 10 to 14 days. Bulk production takes 30 to 45 days from sample sign-off on both routes.

How do I know bulk will match my approved sample?

Elastic recovery is wash-tested on the production fabric and you receive the report before cutting. Elastic comes from a designated supplier, the spec sheet ships with your goods, and sample and bulk use elastic from the same batch and dye lot.

How does payment work?

30% deposit to start production. The 70% balance is due after you approve inspection.

Do you sign an NDA?

Yes. We sign an NDA before spec review, and an OEM pattern is kept on file locked to your brand, not reproduced for other clients.

Do you ship DDP or FOB?

Both. We quote FOB Shanghai or Ningbo, or DDP delivered to your door, whichever suits your import set-up.

Can I customise an ODM pattern enough to make it exclusive to my brand?

Yes. Your combination of fabric, colour, strap, trim, label and packing creates a distinct product. After your first production run, your modified version of the pattern is locked to your brand and not supplied to other buyers. If you want full exclusivity from the very first sample (meaning the base construction is also unique to you) that is OEM. Both routes are covered by an NDA before any spec is shared.

What if I don’t have a tech pack, can I still use OEM?

Yes. A reference sample, a retail garment you own, or detailed photos with measurements is enough to start. We build the pattern from your reference, write up a spec sheet, and send it to you for review before we cut the first sample. A formal tech pack speeds things up but is not required. If you have nothing but a concept, ODM is usually faster. We find the closest existing pattern and you specify changes from there.
